LTE key management analysis with session keys context

چکیده

Handover key management in mobile wireless networks targets to minimize the effects of a possible key compromise in the access points. We describe and analyze how the new 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) security architecture and handover keying management fulfills this target. We discuss possible LTE handover key management enhancements and implementation alternatives without losing interoperability over the air interface. We have chosen to compare it with our session keys context concept to see what the strengths in both are to get some perspective for deployments that benefit from distributed key management. 2010 Elsevier B.V. Protected session keys context for distributed session key management

Handoffs must be fast for wireless mobile nodes (MN) without sacrificing security between the MN and the wireless access points in the access networks. We describe and analyze our new secure Session Keys Context (SKC) scheme which has all the good features, like mobility and security optimization, of the currently existing key distribution proposals, namely key-request, preauthentication, and p...

Mobility and Key Management in SAE/LTE

Often in wireless communications the cryptographic algorithm is considered as ‘the security solution’ but actually it is only the nucleus. The means for using the cryptographic algorithm is the ‘key’ used by the algorithm. Thus management of keys and security there-of is an important issue. The security of the key management solution should not impede mobility of devices by adding undue delays....

Synchronous Authentication Key Management Scheme for Inter-eNB Handover over LTE Networks

Handover process execution without active session termination is considered one of the most important attribute in the Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks. Unfortunately, this service always is suffered from the growing of security threats. In the Inter-eNB handover, an attacker may exploit these threats to violate the user privacy and desynchronize the handover entities. Therefore, the authenti...

A Dynamic Self-healing Key Management Scheme For Wireless Sensor Networks Based on EBS

A self-healing mechanism in key management is an important means for large-scale clustering wireless sensor networks that enable nonrevoked nodes use their private information and the received broadcast messages to recover the lost session keys on their own. In this paper, we propose a dynamic self-healing key management scheme for large-scale clustering wireless sensor networks that is based o...

Secure Session Mobility using Hierarchical Authentication Key Management in Next Generation Networks

In this paper we propose a novel authentication mechanism for session mobility in Next Generation Networks named as Hierarchical Authentication Key Management (HAKM). The design objectives of HAKM are twofold: i) to minimize the authentication latency in NGNs; ii) to provide protection against an assortment of attacks such as denial-of-service attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, guessing attack...
